Roy's obituary

MONONA/SCOTTSDALE, AZ, LeRoy Edward Way, age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in Mesa, AZ. He was born to Harry and Martha Way on December 27, 1932, in Madison, Wisconsin. Roy graduated from High School from St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, WI. Roy married Jacquelynne Hansen on October 15, 1955, at St. James Church, Madison, WI.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott; wife, Jackie; parents Harry & Martha; brothers and sisters: Harry, Harold, Arthur, Richard, John, Don, Mary, and Suzie. Survived by his daughter Dianne, son David (Susie), daughter in law Blanca (Scott), brother Paul; and sisters, Joan, Rose, as well as grandchildren: Nicole, Cassandra, Jayson, Danielle, Zachary, Kathryn (Trent), Josh (Lauren), Justin Jacob, and great grandchildren: Dionte, Alex, Kayla, Allie Rae, Emily, and Bentley.

Like his father and brothers, Roy was a carpenter and built cabinets early in his career, then started Way Construction Company in the early 70’s, building many family homes in Madison, WI. In 1988, Jackie and Roy moved to Scottsdale, AZ, where they bought a souvenir business called Western Heritage. They made and sold scorpion, rattlesnake and black widow spider paper weights, belt buckles and bolo-ties.

Roy loved to organize and was a true leader. He served on the Board of Directors for his neighborhood association called Heritage Village IV where he served as President and on many committees. Most often you could find Roy playing tennis, golf, cribbage, croquet and bocci ball, or bringing a group to a spring training baseball game, musical theatre event or just for custard at Culvers.

Roy very much enjoyed his family and friends and was happiest when they were all together.

In 2021, after moving to a senior living facility in Mesa, Roy met a beautiful friend Beverly Bentley. They were able to share companionship for nearly 2 years, which brought much joy to Roy. In September of 2022, Roy accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and therefore solidified his reunion with Jesus in heaven for eternity. Refer to John 3:7, 1 Peter 1:3, John 3:16, Eph 2:8-9.
