Roy's obituary

Roy Gerald Angus, 79, died peacefully at his home in Hedgesville, WV on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Born in Chicago, IL., Roy grew up with his sister and mother in a home he built with his father in Lansing, IL. Roy attended Bishop Knoll High School in Hammond, IN and St Procopius College in Naperville, IL. Roy proudly served in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Greenbelt, MD and then to Ruatan St in Berwyn Heights, where he owned the Texaco station in the late 60s and early 70s. He moved to WV in 2000.

Using the skills he gained in the Army, he worked for several Washington, DC area organizations, such as GEICO, University of Maryland, Fannie Mae, Volkswagen of America, Small Business Administration, CWA and finally retiring from AFL-CIO in 2005. His retirement gave him the time to enjoy his life long love of working on cars, especially VWs, and joined AmVets, where he served as State Commander for WV and District 2 Commander.

He is survived by his sister, Lynn Nolan of San Diego, CA; his daughters, Wendy Angus of Earleville, MD and Casandra Dellapina (Timothy) of Plain City, OH; three grandchildren, Dominic, Christian and Giuliana Dellapina; longtime friend, Phyllis Manimbo of Berkeley Springs, WV, and his faithful dog, Bear.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb 9, 2019, at 2pm at the AmVets Post 30 in Inwood, WV located at 141 Middleway Pike, Inwood, WV 25428. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking a donation be made in Roy’s name to Hospice of the Panhandle at 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430 or through their web site at https://www.hospiceotp.org/do….
