Roy's obituary

Roy A Green, 84, of Westbury, NY, passed away on April 20th, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. 

Roy was born on February 21st 1939 to Alfred and Cecelia Green in Portland, Jamaica.  At the tender age of 15, Roy began working on the railroad that ran from Kingston to Montego Bay. He was a loyal son who helped his mother provide and raise his brothers and sisters.  Roy was a hard worker and was often given the most challenging tasks to solve on his job, which he never hesitated to take on! He grew to be well known and highly respected as the most “brilliant” worker on the train. 

Roy left the railroad and secured a job at the Jamaica Light Company at the age of 23 . After several years on the job he decide he wanted a bigger challenge and adventure so he began the arduous task of becoming a US citizen. On his journey he landed jobs at Colonial Sand and Stone, Magnon Bros, HO Penn, Commander and Penske Power. Roy worked at Penske for over ———— years and celebrated his retirement in ————-.

Roy was a force of nature and pioneer for his family and friends. He paved the road in America and provided refuge so they could have a better life. He was a pillar of strength in times of trouble and difficult times. The amount of people he’s helped can be numbered by the stars in the sky.

 May all who’ve  been touched by his kindness pass on his legacy for many generations to come.  Roy Green’s name will forever be remembered as the Patriarch of his family .

Roy was predeceased by his father and mother, Alfred and Cecelia Green . His sister Millicent and brother Woolsey. He is survived by his sons Wayne,  Richie, step daughter Danine and daughter-in-law Barbara. His siblings, Lothies, Maryann, Pearlene, Norris, Darien, Leonard, Cecil, Beryl and Sissy. His grandchildren, Angela, Anthony, Monica, Dominic, Chelsea, Madison, Bailey and great granddaughter Nevaeh.
