Rowan's obituary
Rowan Karnas was born in Tallahassee, Florida on November 18, 2004. He was raised on Siesta Key, Florida before he moved to Miami. He had a larger-than-life personality and loved to entertain and amuse family, friends, and everyone he met along the way. Rowan made everything more fun and exciting, indeed. He loved dancing, rapping, planning adventures with his friends, and making everyone laugh. He was a great athlete who enjoyed tennis, surfing, and kayaking. He loved the beach, camping, fine dining, high fashion, and travel. He was an intrepid individual.
Rowan attended Pinecrest Elementary School, Palmetto and Southwood Middle School, and graduated from MLMP in 2023. He was currently studying at Miami Dade College and aspired to be a comedian.
Rowan’s family includes his first and best friend, brother Reef Karnas; his darling sister, Daisy Karnas; his loving mother, Rebecca Bush; his father Jerry Karnas; his beloved grandparents, Martha and Jim Threlkeld; his loving grandmother, Nancy Bush; and great aunt, Irene Smith. He leaves behind hundreds of friends and family members all over the world who will always remember him for his laughter and smile, his impressive vocabulary, and his ability to light up every room he ever entered.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the family for expenses and future educational opportunities for his brother, Reef Karnas.
Excerpt from Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet":
For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?
Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.
