Rose's obituary

Rose Marie Spatola

Rose Marie Miceli born 10:30 AM on March 13, 1933 on a cold sunny Monday morning in Buffalo NY to Frank Centanni Miceli & Fara Cracchiola Miceli. Named in honor of both grandparents Rosa Centanni and Maria Cracchiola.
Life in 1933 was a tapestry of economic and political events that impacted the family's life which honed their path and survival skills. The year 1933 was the period of "The Great Depression". Franklin D. Roosevelt was president of the US. It was a very difficult time for the family. Rose's family lived in a flat above her grandparents James & Maria and her 5 uncles and 4 aunts in a 2 family home.
Rose and her brother Anthony had a lot of love, attention and good modeling from their parents, along with their mother's family who lived downstairs. Their influence was with her in many of her core interests and values that were reflected in her personality.
Rose went to Buffalo State University and earned her bachelors degree in teaching in 1954.
Rose met the love of her life George Joseph Spatola June 14th, 1953 on Flag Day. They got engaged on Rose's graduation day from college in June of 1954. They were married on July 16th, 1955. Rose & George wanted to start a better life with much better weather and thus moved to the San Fernando Valley in California.
On February 27, 1961 the second love of her life was born. Frank George Spatola (Sunny Boy). Rose instilled a large sense of love and family as Frank was growing up. Through thick and thin Rose was a constant rock of love and support throughout his youth and even throughout adulthood.
Two more loves came into her life. In 1988 Frank and his wife Caron Louise Estrada Spatola gave birth to her 1st grandson Steven Ray Spatola and then in 1993 her 2nd grandson Travis John Spatola was born. George and Rose love their role as grandparents and it shows. Steven & Travis adore their Mama and her gift of love and family will be carried on to the next generation and beyond.
Rose taught for 37 years. She worked with special needs children. She went back to school and received her certification in sign language. She worked with hearing impaired children and loved every minute of it. She met life long friends during her career that she stayed very close to throughout her life.
Rose was called home on October 28, 2019 on a beautiful sunny Monday afternoon. She is now in heaven using her brilliant organizational skills. Rose Marie Spatola was a gift of love, courage, patience and friendship to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Geroge Joseph Spatola, Son and his wife Frank George Spatola & Caron Louise Spatola, Grandsons Steven Ray Spatola & Travis John Spatola, Brother in-law Mario Charles Spatola and Wife Josephine J. Spatola, Sister in-law Diana Norton and Husband David Norton, many cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.
