Rose's obituary
It is with a heavy heart to say that Rose (Kovach) Silverwood, 86, passed away on April 10, 2026.
Born on August 31, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Balog) Kovach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Silverwood; her daughter, Debbie Silverwood; her sister, Margaret Dob; and her brothers, Joseph, Michael, and Stephen Kovach.
She is survived by her sons, Fred Silverwood, Jr., Kenny Silverwood, and Curtis (Amy) Silverwood; son-in-law, Fred Moyer; her grandchildren, the son of Kenny, Kenny (Jacqueline) Silverwood, Jr.; and the children of Curtis, Jessica (Rob) Stohr, Chelsey (Andrew) Knechel, Curtis (Joshua) Catwood, and Joshua Silverwood; and her 7 great-grandchildren.
Affectionately known as “Nanny” to her family and “Rosie” to her friends, Rose loved being around those closest to her and was known for hosting gatherings where she made sure everyone felt welcome and well-fed. She kept a beautiful and immaculate home and found joy in golfing, gardening, and bird watching. She shared many memorable trips with her husband, Fred, over the years. Rose had a remarkable memory and never forgot a name, birthday, or special detail about the people she met. She was a wonderful cook, had a sweet tooth and a love for dessert, enjoyed relaxing with her favorite shows or a good novel, and was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Rose will be remembered for her strength and for the many years she shared with her family as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Her life was marked by both love and loss, and it is comforting to know she is now at peace, reunited with her husband, Fred, and her beloved daughter, Debbie.
A private funeral service for close family and friends will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, May 4, 2026. This will occur at Riverside Cemetery at 200 South Montgomery Avenue, Norristown, PA 19401. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society in Rose’s daughter’s name (Debbie Silverwood).
