Rosamond was one of my oldest and dearest friends. We met through a mutual friend when we were 14. Rosamond was an avid reader who inspired me to read. She shared her books with me and before long our conversations were about our favorite novels/authors. I credit Rosamond with my love of reading today.
Rosamond and I both studied education in college and we were blessed with our life-long careers. Rosamond was a smart and talented educator. Her first teaching career was in Whitman, Massachusetts where she drove an hour and a half each way to work. She never complained about her long drive as she loved her job. We celebrated many New Years Eve’s together - before and after children. We shared a love of the beach and I had the chance to visit with her in her last home that overlooks Hull Bay. Years ago,we also spent time together with our young families at York Beach in Maine where I have lots of pictures of her girls and our boys digging in the sand.
I miss you my friend.

I was fortunate to be Roz's first principal at the Holt School in Whitman and proud to recommend her for tenure after her three year trial period.  She gave me a beautiful floral gift [and a hug] when I moved to Cape Cod in early 1976. I did 32 years in education and there are some teachers who remain with you through the years. Roz is one of those for me.
On behalf of the Belliveau family members, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Dorrance extended families. Rosamond has been our link to our extended Dorrance family (-we are the Grandchildren of Emmitt/Emmy Dorrance, and my Grandmother Gerry Dowling). Ken, Beverly, Rosamond and Mary Beth would stay in touch with my Mother Jackie for many years, to try and research Emmy’s life. I met with Rosamond these past two summers in Hull and learned much about our combined family lineage. Our Mom Jackie just passed on this past February (89), and our youngest Brother Jack passed in March (57) who lived in Hull and came to our last meeting with Rosamond. She gave us a copy of the Dorrance family history, and we had a wonderful meeting. I was looking forward to seeing her again this summer, but her daughter Elizabeth told me the news when I called this week. Rosamond was so kind and generous to our family, and especially to our Mom Jackie. We will miss her love and kindness. May God Bless her. Bobby, Danielle, Len Belliveau and family members. Sometimes we are fortunate enough to have someone come into our lives at the right time and make a lasting impression when we need it the most. Ros was that person for me. She was a teacher at heart, both in and out of school, and the subtle but impactful lessons I learned from her have made a difference; and I think the same for everyone that knew her.

Always with a positive infectious attitude, adventurous and fun, but at the same time she showed us how to handle challenges with a quiet class and grace. That was Ros. That was her gift. And that’s what I will take with me. Along with “it was so funny because…”

To Liz, Emily and Erin and your families, thank you for sharing your Mom with me and my family. Same to Karen and Peter and Maureen and Woody. Your family’s friendship over the years have meant a lot to me. And Ros meant the world to me.

I am so grateful to have known her and to be able to call Ros, my friend. I will never, ever forget her.

The view and sunsets will always be there, but they have lost their biggest fan. “You just can’t beat this.”

Love,

GJ

We are so very sorry for your family’s loss! Sending all our love.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Rosamond. She was one of the Principals who interviewed me when I was first hired in Tewksbury.  I worked with her for a year or two in the office at the Heath Brook School before she retired. Ros was a smart, amazing, kindhearted soul. She had a great sense of humor too! She loved her family fiercely and I was saddened to hear of her passing. She will be missed by many. My heart is with all of you as you grieve the loss of your beloved Ros.
Rest in peace Rosamond.  I went to high school with her.  She was a wonderful person. God bless her family. My sincere condolences to all.
