— with Amma in her backyard.

I have so many stories about mummy amachy. Some of my favorites:

-the time went on a walk by herself in the neighborhood and got lost when we were visiting Seattle, so  she started yelling from the top of the hill to get our attention in the backyard because she couldn’t figure out how to get back to us 😂

-always letting the “kids” cut in line to get food at gatherings, even when we were all grown up

-offering to share her purse candy and splitting one small hard candy into multiple tiny pieces to share with all of us kids

-when I was in the hospital, she and Velydaddy Appachan insisted on having someone drive them all the way to Manteca to pray for me and support me, even though they were having health problems of their own at that time

-even after mummy amachy’s memory started to fade, the moments she would recognize me on phone calls or FaceTime would mean so much. Her excitement to hear from me was so special.

Mummy amachy’s prayers and jokes and love will be so dearly missed. She set an example of what it means to love others not only in words, but by her actions. I’m so lucky to have been loved by her and will miss her very much.
