Background
Lewy Body Dementia is a progressive brain disorder that leads to cognitive, motor, and behavioral problems. Diagnosing can be challenging because it can present itself similar to Parkinson's, but requires more extensive testing. The biggest difference between the two is the progression is much faster than Parkinson's. With early detection or proper diagnosis, there's a chance to extend life. Unfortunately, Ron had been diagnosed with Parkinson's for over a year before we saw new doctors and had him re-diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. That new diagnosis gave us comfort because his rapid progression was much faster than others we had seen in the Parkinson's community. It is our hope that these donations can go towards research for early detection, specifically differentiating between other cognitive diseases, such as Parkinson's Disease.
