Ronald's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Wass, on February 4, 2025. Born on December 3, 1948, Ronald lived a life characterized by resilience, calmness, and cool composure. Ronald's journey was unique, as are all our stories, and he imparted significant lessons to all those he encountered.

One of the most influential decisions in Ronald's life was committing to sobriety on July 8, 1986. This was a choice that was to shape the course of his life and serve as a testament to his indomitable spirit. He emerged victorious, staying sober through the severe trials and tribulations that life placed before him. Ronald's greatest accomplishment, however, was not just his ability to stay sober but to turn this personal triumph into an act of service.

As a dedicated volunteer at the Recovery Pod in the Sarasota County Jail, Ronald worked tirelessly to help others find their own path to recovery. His calm demeanour and cool-headed judgement were sources of great comfort to those he worked with. His work with this unique group was inspirational, displaying an unwavering dedication to those who often felt forgotten by society.

Among the many valuable lessons Ronald shared, perhaps the most salient was his belief that one does not need to drink to get through hard times. This wisdom he imparted became a beacon of hope for those struggling with addiction, transforming numerous lives through this simple but profound belief. His legacy is one of relentless strength, resilience and hopefulness against life's many adversities.

Ronald Wass leaves behind a legacy of inspiration and strength. His perseverance and faith in God in the face of adversity, combined with his tireless service to others, will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him. In the quiet calmness of his character, he demonstrated the power of personal transformation, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
