Ronald "Ron" Kent Schlarb, aged 71, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025 in his home in Ocala, FL. He was born on February 2, 1954 in Cambridge, OH to Harold and Helen "Janie" (Wolf) Schlarb.

Ron lived in Ohio for the first five years of his life before moving to the suburbs of Chicago, IL in 1959. He was a 1973 graduate of York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Ron married Debra Gilmer in 1977. They moved to DeKalb County to pursue education and job opportunities and devoted their lives to raising their two children, Rory and Dayna, despite their marriage ending in divorce in 1993.

Ron worked at the Spaulding factory in DeKalb for several years until beginning his career at Ideal Industries in 1986. He retired from Ideal in 2016 after 30 years of service.

In 2000, Ron married Lucinda (Hallum) Heisner and became a loving stepfather to her two daughters, Keegan and Linley. They resided in Sycamore, Illinois, before moving to Florida to fulfill their dream of spending retirement in the sunshine.

Ron was an avid sports fan. A loyal Chicago Bears fan. He played football throughout high school and softball and soccer as an adult. He helped coach his children’s sports teams and attended various sporting events as often as he could. He especially loved his fantasy football teams. He had a knack for building a winning team year after year.

He was a history buff and could recall the dates and years from any event. He loved to collect memorabilia. He was sentimental and cared deeply about preserving items from the past.

Ron will be remembered most for his zest for life and fun-loving nature. He was hardworking, steady, thoughtful, and kind. His positive energy and happy-go-lucky personality made everyone feel at ease.

He is survived by his wife, Lucinda Schlarb of Ocala, FL; mother, Judith Schlarb of LaGrange, IL; sister, Pamela (Steve) Schueler of Granbury, TX; sister, Paula (Jim) Doherty of Lakewood Ranch, FL; brother, Scott (Peggy) Schlarb of Palm Beach, FL; sister, Tina Schlarb of LaGrange, IL; son, Rory (Kelly) Schlarb of Aurora, IL; daughter, Dayna (Jacob) Greer of Byron, IL; grandchildren, Clara, Rowan, and Levi Greer; stepdaughters, Keegan Heisner and Linley Aspatore as well as various nieces, nephews, neighbors, and close friends.
