Ronald's obituary
Ronald Herbert Moyer, also know as “Pops” was a fun loving, courageous man, and proud of his military service. He was born on May 22, 1945, age 78 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Herbert and Margaret Moyer. He was 1 of 3 children. He passed away peacefully at Manatee Memorial Hospital and was in hospice care, February 29, 2024. The family is eternally grateful to the cardiac ICU nursing staff for their tireless efforts in Pops final days, along with his friends in the Bradenton community who provided assistance during this difficult time.
Ron is survived by his children, Heather, Ron, and Mark, Grandchildren, Jimmy and Jared, his brother, William Moyer and wife, Patricia and his loving dog, Herbie. Predeceased by his sister Judith.
Ron was a Corporal Specialist (E-4) in the U.S. Army, where he fought valiantly in the Vietnam war as a paratrooper. He earned the Bronze Star Medal.
His sense of humor endeared him to many friends and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in his community. Words can’t describe how much he will be missed. Thank you to everyone who was a good friend to Pops. He appreciated every one of you in his life.
Ron retired from Bethlehem Steel, where he was a Craneman. He enjoyed trading stocks in his retirement while enjoying a cup of Starbucks coffee, coin collecting, and sunsets at Anna Maria Island with his beloved pet, Herbie and friends.
A celebration of “Pops” Ron Moyer’s life will take place on 4/6/24 from 12p-3pm at the VFW. The Honor Guard ceremony will take place promptly at 12pm. The VFW location is 5105 Manatee Ave W Bradenton, FL 34209 United States. Food and Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided and a cash bar is available on site. Please share this with interested parties. If you’re interested in sharing stories and/or memories of Pops, please feel free to do so at the ceremony.
