Ronald Lee McAdams, 81, of Tipp City and most recently, Union, OH, died Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
He was born November 18, 1937, at home in Tipp City, OH to the late Verlynne and Flora Lee (Stowe) McAdams. He lived more than 65 years on the family farm, graduating from Tippecanoe HIgh School in 1955. He attended Manchester (College) University where he met the love of his life, Alberta Louise Denlinger. They were married on July 22, 1961 and recently celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Ron was a member and former deacon of the Trotwood and Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren congregations. As a young adult, he helped organize and lead a young adult group in the Miami Valley. This group still has members that meet together once a month. Ron delighted in these friendships. He was a retired pastor of the Lower Miami Church of the Brethren. He served 20 years on the Tipp City Exempted Village School Board where he was very pleased to help provide quality education for the next generation. He taught countless Sunday School classes, organized fruit sales, chaired board meetings, served on district boards, as district moderator, supported the camping program in a myriad of ways including counseling, led Citizenship Seminars to New York City and Washington, DC, chaperoned youth to the National Youth Conference, participated in almost every facet of Annual Conference and a myriad of other jobs with the Southern Ohio and Kentucky District as well as the greater Church of the Brethren denomination. Ron also retired from the University of Dayton as the Director of the Office of Computing Activities and Telecommunications after 37 years of faithful service from the ground up.
He was preceded in death by his parents (2001 and 2004 respectively); his brothers, Gary Wallace (1941) and Larry Irvin (1995); beloved former sisters-in-law, Kaysa (Anderson) Meeks (2011) and Carolyn (Teach) Denlinger (2010); and brother-in-law, Dean E. Denlinger (2000).
Ron is survived by his loving spouse, Alberta; sons, Kevin Ronald McAdams of Dayton and Lee Everett (Julie Skiver) McAdams of Grove City; daughter, Malinda Ruth (Timothy) Tipton of Tipp City; brother, Tom Irvin (Carol) McAdams of Morristown, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Lucy McAdams, Mary (Robert) Nies, and Pamela Dewitt Denlinger; brother-in-law, Ardon W. Denlinger; grandsons, Benjamin David and Dillon Ronald Tipton; fourteen nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Ron loved spending time doing many activities throughout his life including fishing, gardening, camping, pie baking, quilting, genealogy research, visiting with others, and any or all activities that may highlight the peace and service work of the Church of the Brethren. Ron always showed God’s love to everyone he met.
Friends and loved ones are welcome to join the family in a memorial service on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11AM at the Trotwood Church of the Brethren.
