I just learned from a post on the Cornell website that Ron had passed in early January. We were teammates for 2 years on the Cornell soccer team in the late 1950s. What a privilege for me ! I send belated sympathies to all of Ron's family.
I was sad to hear of Ron's passing. I spent the afternoon with Ron and Sandra on October 17, 2023, in Myrtle Beach. Ron and Sandra told stories all afternoon. Ron was talking about writing a letter to his newest great grandchild about the Maierhofer family. Such a proud man! I was privileged to see Ron and Sandra dance many times in Alexandria and Myrtle Beach. He was a devoted husband to my dear friend, Sandra, and a great family man and friend. I was blessed to know Ron. My sincere condolences to the entire family. Rest in eternal peace. ❤️
I’m so sorry for your loss. There are fewer than 3-4 coaches/teachers who influenced my life. Ron was one of them. He had such joy for the game, and understood how to let players flow. He was one of the only coaches I ever had who really understood and appreciated the way I played soccer, and, more importantly, who made me feel his appreciation. More recently, I remember exchanging emails with him about his soccer training for kids and then a few more emails after I read his book. He was a very good man; I appreciated him, and I'm sorry he’s gone.
