Ron's obituary

Ronald Koval, 70, of Surprise, AZ, passed away on January 27, 2023 and went home to be with his Savior.

Ron was born on August 10, 1952 to Frank and Marie Koval in Babylon, NY. After graduating from West Babylon High School in 1970, he went on to earn his Bachelor's in Special Education at the University of Southern Connecticut. He continued his education at the University of Northern Colorado with a Master's in Special Education and Learning Disabilities. It was here that he met his bride of 43 years, Rebecca (Becky). Later in life, he went back to school again, and received another Master's degree in Counseling at the Ohio State University.

In 1979, Ron and Becky were married and settled down in Delaware, OH. Ron worked as a special education for years, teaching and coaching at Delaware Hayes High School, Thomas Worthington High School, Kilbourne High School, and Kilbourne Middle School. Ron became a school guidance counselor for Kilbourne Middle School and it led him to his love for counseling privately, which he continued doing until May of 2022. Ron was devoted to the church and instrumental in the founding of Delaware Christian Church, serving as an elder there for many years.

Ron and Becky had three children: Jason (Jennie), Kyle (Rebecca) and Megan (Brandon) and eleven grandchildren (Esmae, Jayna, Mason, Giada, Gemma, Jaron, Luca, Davis, Jacoby, Rosa, Silas) whom he loved dearly. Family was incredibly important to Ron and he was always devoted to the interests of his children and later grandchildren. He coached his boys in soccer and basketball; took stats for his daughter's volleyball team; and cheered on his grandkids in ballet, gymnastics, parkour, soccer, baseball, basketball, karat, and every other possible interest.

Ron and Becky loved to travel and made many trips to Italy to visit family. Seeing the world together was one of their favorite things.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Koval. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his sister and two brothers, Karen, Frank and Stephen; his children, Jason, Kyle, and Megan; and his grandchildren.

A celebration of life will take place in Ohio at Delaware Christian Church on Monday, March 27th at 11:00 AM. Family visitation will start at 10:00 AM.

A celebration of life will take place in Arizona at Christ's Church of the Valley Surprise on Tuesday, April 4th at 1:00 PM. Please refer to the events tab for more information.
