Ronald's obituary
Ronald Smith Hackett Sr., born May 13, 1951, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend whose life was defined by service, strength, and love for his community.
A proud Navy veteran, Ronald was also one of the first members of the Black firefighter association with the San Jose Fire Department in 1976and retiring in 2008. Breaking barriers and paving the way for others through his courage, dedication, and integrity. His career reflected not only bravery, but a deep commitment to protecting and uplifting others.
In his free time, Ronald devoted himself to coaching youth sports with Oak Grove youth football, Notre Dame High school Girls basketball and Oak Grove High school girls basketball. He believed strongly in mentorship and giving young people positive guidance. He loved motorcycles, was a devoted San Francisco 49ers fan, and brought joy and laughter wherever he went.
He was a proud father to his four children: Ronica, Ronald Jr., Rufara, and Rushana, who were the center of his world. He was deeply loved by many and will be remembered for his wisdom, humor, strength, and unwavering love.
Ronald’s legacy of service, leadership, and compassion will live on through the many lives he touched.
