Ronald's obituary
He leaves his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Davenport; his sons, Andy Davenport and Tony Davenport; five grandchildren; and many close friends.
Born and raised in Chicago, the son of Donald and Hope Davenport, he was a lifelong resident of Hoffman Estates.
In his early years, Ron would lifeguard at Lake Michigan and loved to swim. After graduating from Sullivan High school, he met his wife, JoAnn, through mutual friends and they were married on August 28, 1965 at Glenview Community Church. In 1964 , he joined the U.S. Army, where he was a Sargent.
Ron and his wife JoAnn lived in Germany for 3 years, while Ron was serving. After serving with the U.S. Army, Ron had the opportunity to join Colfax . He not only took pride in his career, but truly relished the friends he made during his time at Colfax. Over the years, Ron was very involved with his union and happily retired in 2002.
Ron had a passion for the water and took every chance he could to be on his boat with his family. He passed his knowledge of boats to his two sons. His family will always remember him sun kissed, smiling, while driving down the fox river.
An avid “handy man”, he was always fixing something for someone. His passions for projects lead him to rebuild a car with his son, Andy; mentor his son, Tony, with his carpenter business; and work alongside his wife, JoAnn, on several home projects.
A celebration of life will be held on September 14, at Morretis in Hoffman Estates. His ashes will be scattered privately with his family.
