Update from May 26, 2021
On May 8th, the 40th day since Roma’s passing, a memorial plaque was installed on one of the Canadian shield boulder at his beloved Pine Point cottages. My family and me are very grateful to Michelle and Regina for suggesting this memorial. We are also very thankful to the whole Pine Point community, for your efforts, support, kindness and the many memories of Roman you have shared with us since his passing.
The following was shared during the memorial, and for me, it summarized many memories really well: “Even though he is gone physically, make no mistake that the words of wisdom he has shared throughout his lifetime, the lessons he has patiently taught countless people, will keep him vibrant and alive in not just my life, but the lives of so so so so many people. I am so sad that he died, but feel incredibly lucky to be one of the people that he gifted with his smile and knowledge; he will never be forgotten. Together with Roman, we have definitely succeeded in creating a loving, supportive and one-of-a-kind community at Pine Point. I look forward to making many more memories here, just like he asked me to!" Michelle M.
I too, look forward to making many more lasting memories at Pine Point with all of you, and especially my grandchildren.
With love and gratitude,
Alisa/Ella/Yolka
Update from April 29, 2021
Yesterday marked one month since Roman passing. I miss his voice, his calling out, "Yolka", and his ready smile, which was giving me hope for his recovery.
I am reading all your posts, your memories about Roman, again and again, like a book, and discovering each time something new. He has been always like a "never ending book", for me! With each turning page something new opened up about his personality, his determination, his limitless ability to learn and understand, while pursuing his goals. His mantra was: "If someone can do it, I can do it too!"
I am overwhelmed with your messages, your very touching memories which made my tears pour and left me feeling how deeply he influenced many of you in so many different ways. Thank you.
I am very thankful to all of you for taking the time and effort to share and express yourself on this memorial. I am extremely grateful to those who created this memorial site, so we can all be together no matter where we are in the world, to my daughter in law, Mina, and my sons, Andrew and Max. More memories are welcome!
With best wishes to all of you, be safe and well.
