Rolando's obituary
SFC Rolando Eddy Griffith, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family at his home on January 13, 2022. Rolando was a decorated veteran who served in the Persian Gulf War and Kosovo Conflict. He spent 20 years in active duty before retiring in 2000.
Rolando Eddy Griffith was born on October 12, 1945 in Panama Canal Zone, Panama to his parents William Alfonso Griffith and Gwendolyn Estelle Bennett. In Panama City, he married the love of his life, Guillermina Caballero. After immigrating to the United States in 1980, at age 34, he decided to join the U.S. Army and later relocated his wife and three children to the United States in 1983.
After completing his training, Rolando spent time abroad in Germany, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. After retiring from his last post in Kuwait, Rolando and Guillermina chose to settle in the town of Spring Hill, FL.
After moving to Spring Hill, Rolando eventually worked for the Hernando County Public School System as an ESOL Paraprofessional, where he enjoyed tutoring students in all subjects, particularly English and Math. He worked at J.D. Floyd Elementary School for 15 years.
When he wasn’t working, Rolando had a passion for carpentry, politics, playing cards with his family and Wii Sports (golf and tennis).
Rolando was predeceased by his father, mother, and Alfredo Griffith (older brother). He is survived by Guillermina Griffith (wife), Rosario (daughter), Carol (daughter), Rolando Jr. (son), 2 son in-laws (Rafael and Mark), 6 grandchildren (Kristal, Jonathan, Chelsey, Joshua, Elijah, and Natalie), 3 sisters (Verna, Sonja, Leticia) and 3 brothers (Douglas, Ricardo, and Carlos).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to this memorial fund. There will be a memorial service held at 10am, January 29, 2022 at their local church, Family First Assembly, 12435 Spring Hill Dr, Spring Hill, FL 34609.
