In Loving Memory of Lefty LeBlanc: The WSB Summertime Safety Fund
Lefty was a cherished fixture at White Sand Beach, where he and the LeBlanc family made their summer home starting in 1970. For decades, he spent countless joyful days with family and friends, toes in the warm sand, reading in his beach chair, or diving into the cool waters of the sound—often coaxed in by his grandchildren. White Sand Beach became the community closest to his heart, a place where memories were made and shared across generations.
A lifelong water enthusiast, Lefty’s passion for swimming shaped his life. He swam competitively in high school and college. He passed his love for the water on by teaching water safety, working as a lifeguard, pool director, swim coach, and teacher in the Hartford School System. Whether training lifeguards for certification, teaching young children to paddle, or helping older adults swim, Lefty approached every role with a smile. He believed everyone deserved the joy of water, offering his expertise without judgment to ensure it was a safe and fun experience for all.
To honor Lefty’s legacy and his love for White Sand Beach, the LeBlanc family established The WSB Summertime Safety Fund. 100% of the charitable donations will go directly to the WSB Association. The goal is to support beach safety initiatives such as funding lifeguard staff, first aid training, and essential safety equipment. This fund ensures that current and future beachgoers can enjoy the same safe, welcoming environment Lefty cherished.
