Roger's obituary
Roger "Rebel" Wills, 69, of Murphy, NC, peacefully passed away on April 09, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Etowah County, Alabama to Clifford & Betty Wills, Roger was a wild and rebellious boy from the day he was born, earning him the nickname all his siblings still call him by today, "Rebel". Rebel appeared in the Orlando Sentinel newspaper for the first time at under 2 yrs old... titled "High Climber" and pictured hanging upside down with casts on his legs and a smile from ear to ear... the article explains "Rebel" broke the legs while scaling his father's truck and he "bounces cheerfully on his shoulder blades and jabbers amiably with his nurses".
Roger was fiercely passionate about fishing from a young age, being featured again in the Orlando Sentinel at 12 yrs old for loading up a stringer of large mouth bass using live shiners and catching a 10 pounder! Roger also spent many years offshore fishing out of Cape Canaveral as the captain of the "Miss Cherie"... his large catches were often published in newspaper, fishing reports, & angler magazines. Roger fished all over the state of Florida and spent his later years fishing North GA and Western NC lakes. Roger spent years as a diesel mechanic, as well as a Carpenter and Contractor.
In February of 1975, Roger married his wife Barbara and went on to have 3 children, all boys. Roger was predeceased by Jared Brett Wills & Barbara Moore Wills and leaves behind 2 sons, Justin Wills & Heath Wills, both of whom followed Roger into Construction fields. Roger also leaves behind 4 grandchildren... Savannah Wills, Jared Wills, Eily Wills, & Kavan Wills.
Per Roger's request, no services will be held at this time and the family requests no donations or flowers be sent.
