Roger's obituary
Roger Kay Stephens, aged 89, passed away on January 22, 2024, in Bristow, Virginia. Born on March 30, 1934, in Lansing, Michigan, Roger's life was marked by his deep sense of honor, family commitment, and service to his country.
A proud alumnus of Michigan State University, Roger's academic achievements laid the groundwork for a career distinguished by diligence and integrity. His tenure as an Investigator for O.P.M. was characterized by the same ethos that he brought to his service in the United States Navy, where he served with pride.
Roger was known as an enthusiastic collector of mineral samples, a golfer, and a keen fantasy football player. He was very interested in history, particularly WWII. His affinity with animals earned him the affectionate nickname "The Pet Whisperer" among his family, to whom he was deeply devoted.
He leaves behind a loving family: three children, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, an ex-wife, a sister, a brother, two sisters-in-law, and a host of extended family members including numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. His passing was preceded by that of his mother, a brother, a step-father, and several aunts and uncles.
The final interment, with military honors, will take place at on April 19, 2024, at Quantico National Cemetery. To honor Roger's service, attendees are requested to be in the designated car lane by 10:30 am. The appropriate car lane will be clearly marked for convenience.
Roger's memory will be cherished in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy of decency, loyalty, and unwavering care for his loved ones will endure.
