Roger's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Roger Phelps in 2025. Born in 1950, Roger left this world as a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend. His life was filled with joy, laughter, and a stubborn resilience that manifested as a legacy of love. His spirit, wit, and friendly demeanor will be greatly missed.
Roger was the cherished father of Marta, Justin, Cory, and Ricky. He was the loving brother of Barry, and Grandfather to Miguel, Kamari, Anthony, Clara, and Sofie. He also leaves behind daughter-in-law Angela, great- daughter-in-law Deborah Cuadrado, as well as his great grandsons Elijah, Noah, and Ezrah.... grandpa loves you boys! His impactful life will continue to influence his lineage and all who knew him. Roger was predeceased by both his parents, Jack and Maryann Phelps.
Roger's greatest accomplishment was being a father and a grandfather. In 2001, he fought through a significant accident, a testament to his grit and determination. He enjoyed the simple pleasures life had to offer, such as savoring sandwiches and chocolate milk while soaking in the sound of his favorite music, like The Beatles, Van Morrison, Carlos Santana, Steely Dan, Sheryl Crow, ALL of Motown, Willie Nelson, and the list goes on (pretty much everything but rap).
During his downtime, Roger cheered for the Arizona Cardinals and Nebraska Cornhuskers while finding peace (competition) in the strategic game of chess. The Rivals performances and anything that included him as the center of attention were his most admired. He was a social butterfly, loving outdoor activities with family and friends. His favorite form of exercise was to 'exercise his mouth', a prime example of his witty humor. Roger had a fondness for Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, and frequented local spots such as the Swizzle Inn, CJ Talley's Pub, and Dizzy's.
A hilarious, smart-ass, friendly, flirty, witty, and happy individual, Roger's personality was larger than life. His life lessons, which included 'Be yourself, never stop changing - we can always become better versions of ourselves', 'guns are for pussies', 'music can make everything better', and 'love everyone' will continue to resonate with those that knew him best. His legacy is one of joy, love, and laughter, and as he would say, 'Fucking-A...... Shit, Shit, Shit'.
Roger Phelps will be profoundly missed. His loss leaves a void in our hearts, but his spirit, memories, and values provide comfort and strength. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date, to be announced.
