Roger's obituary

Roger Neil Lessely, 84, of Oakley, CA, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023. He was born in Chicago, IL, on December 7, 1938, son of the late Alexander Wallace and Erva Mae Garnieski. He is survived by his daughters and grandchildren Heather (Sean) Dalmasso (Connor and Josephine), Heidi (Martin) Garcia (Chiana and Teagan). He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Milton, Wallace Leigh and Norman Richard.

Roger served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964 and fondly remembered his time in the military as a Nike missile fire control system and radar equipment technician. He worked for many years as a computer mainframe technician before ending his working years as a real estate broker.

Roger was a dedicated Packard Automobile enthusiast, and he collected and refurbished 1955 Packards. He was an active member of his local Packard Clubs in both Chicago and northern California.

Roger was devoted to his numerous pets over the years, and he was keen on rescuing those animals who were in critical need, particularly chihuahuas. He also leaves behind his two chihuahuas: Jake and his ever-faithful guardian Lilith.

Military burial will be at Irving Park Cemetery 7777 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60634 at 11 am on Friday, January 20, 2023.

A memorial service followed by a luncheon will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Calvary Episcopal Church, 222 South Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL 60510

The family welcomes donations to the Contra Costa Humane Society "Phinny Fund"  in Roger’s memory.
