Roger's obituary
Roger Keith Dowell, 82, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 5, 2024, in Parma Heights, OH
He was born and raised in Parma, Ohio and the son of James & Irene Dowell (deceased). Roger was the oldest of three children, Richard (deceased) and Pamalee Dworznik. He was not fond of school from the first day, and Roger quit school and went to work at Prepared Foods delivering food to hospitals and restaurants. He met Roseanne (Pavlescak) in 1961, and they got married on November 24, 1962. They had six children, Angella Biro (Tibor), Kimberly Dibble (Jeffery), Patricia Goldrick (Robert), Brian Dowell (Colleen), Timothy Dowell (Lydia) and Daniel Dowell (Chervil) eventually making their home in Old Brooklyn for 30 years.
When all of their children were grown and on their own, they downsized, Roger retired and eventually they bought their last home. Roger was blessed with 15 grandchildren: Jennifer Latona (Scott), Sarah Biro (Luke), Nicholas Biro, Kaitlyn Dibble, Allison Wolford (Mike), Andrea Hoffmaster, Amber van Belkom (Luke), Alexandra Goldrick (Rob), Robert Goldrick (Chelsey), Emily Dowell, Cleo Dowell, Jacob Dowell, Julia Dowell, Samual Dowell, and Wyatt Dowell and 14 great- grandchildren: Scott Latona, Madelyn Latona, Grace Latona, Michaela Wolford, Mason Wolford, Liam Wolford, Harleen Hoffmaster, Charlotte van Belkom, Robert Hogue, Nylah Hogue, Cayden Goldrick, Isabella Goldrick, Brooklyn Goldrick, and Gabriella Goldrick.
Roger worked at various jobs throughout the years and retired from driving a truck 20 years ago. Though he was away from home a lot, he still had time to camp in the summer and took many trips (vacations) to Niagra Falls, Kings Island and Cedar Point. Roger found joy in photography, woodworking, cars and listening to all genres of music.
Above all, Roger loved God, his family and his country.
He brought joy to every family gathering, friend get-together, and Church event. He created cherished memories with everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, and he will be deeply missed.
A private service will be held for family at a later date.
