I worked with Roger at the MJ. He was a Sergeant then. He would come down to our Archives office and we’d talk about the SF Giants. I was born & raised in SF so it was fun to hear him talk about my home team. He was a fun & very kind man. My brother Bill always said Roger was a great guy and well respected. He is missed by all who knew him.⚾️

I met Roger when I was a brand new North Patrol Deputy. Roger was an "old salt" working days and I was just getting started on Graves. Our paths crossed mornings as he made his way in and I on my way out. Always easy going, steady and very honest, we all liked Roger. It came to pass, the department was reorganized into the team policing model and Roger became the leader of or shift, old District 1, Day-shift. We had many adventures and eventually it came my turn to wear the stripes. Roger told me he would polish my boots the day I got promoted and he made good on his word. I bet Lt. Gianelli, never guessed it would be with his Class-A tie he just loaned Roger before the ceremony! Those were the days!
Roger- The world is a lesser place without you in it. I will always cherish the memory of our time together. Out of my whole career, those old "street-cop" days were the best. I know you are standing guard at the gates. See you at shift-change my old friend.
