Roger's obituary
Roger DeJesus Cruz was born on September 16, 1929, in Manila Philippines, and went home to Jesus on February 14, 2024. He has joined his wife, Clarita Cruz in heaven. Roger is survived by his three children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
On June 29, 1957, Roger and Clarita married in the Philippines and went on to have Roger, Neriza, soon after, the family immigrated to North Kingstown, Rhode Island where Roger was stationed. They went on to have their third child, Cristina. After eleven years in Rhode Island, the Cruz family moved to Daly City, California where their family grew to have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Roger served in the United States Navy for 20 years affording him the opportunity to see many beauties of the world and make valuable memories that he spoke fondly of until his final days. After retiring from the Navy, Roger worked at Custy's Restaurant in Rhode Island with his wife. Once they moved to Daly City, California Roger began to work with the San Francisco VA. Although he had a successful professional career, Roger's main priority was his family.
Roger devoted every day to taking his grandchildren to and from school and practices. His grandchildren speak fondly of their after-school adventures to Burger King to eat a chicken sandwich with their grandfather. Roger also drove his wife to Vacaville, California to see their son and daughter each week.
Roger was placed on Hospice Care in 2023 at home, where he was able to be cared for and loved by his family until he passed peacefully in his sleep.
Roger was a son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Most importantly Roger provided for his family and many others. We are incredibly honored to have lived a life with Roger, he will be missed but forever loved.
