Hello, all! My name is Amanda, I am Derek's sister-in-law. I am coming to you on behalf of Derek & Rodney's family.

As most may know, Rodney has had a lot of battles to fight over the last few years. He fought cancer (and beat it), was on the wait list for a liver for a long time and finally found a donor and the transplant was successful. After his transplant, he took a couple falls, which led to hip surgery and to him eventually losing any function in his left arm. Most recently, he found out the cancer had come back aggressively and had metastasized and was unfortunately told there was nothing left that they could do and that he should make the most of the time he had left with his family, and that's what he did.

Unfortunately, 10/30/25, Derek found him unresponsive and by the time they got to the hospital, he was gone. Rodney had been out of work for a few years due to his initial cancer treatments, and of course that took a toll on his financials and he was unable to keep up with his life insurance. We weren't expecting to lose him this quickly and we were trying to figure out what his final wishes were and we know for sure that he wanted to be cremated. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to cover the full amount right now.

We know Rodney had a big group of friends and family who have supported him through his cancer and transplant journeys. Today, we are coming to you for support for Rodney one last time. Derek has been out of work for a few weeks with an injury and also to help care for Rodney - and we will not be able to cover the full cost of the cremation right now.

If you feel it in your heart to donate to a cremation fund, we would be eternally grateful! We want to be able to adhere to Rodney's wishes. We can do Venmo, PayPal, Cashapp, cash, check, or you could even call and make a payment to the crematorium directly. Anything you can do would be such a blessing to our family, and if you can't, if you could at least share this message and hopefully reach someone that maybe can. Of course, the family would appreciate prayers at this time as well.
