Met RL back in 06. I picked this carving up from him at his studio. I’m also a wood carver. I live in Ventura, CA. I just learned of his passing. May he rest in peace. He was a good man.
R.L. was a GENIUS! We spent a lot of time together. I couldn’t help but be influenced by him. One thing i realized early on in our relationship. I didn’t want to be like him. Instead I wanted to ‘one-up’ him. I loved that guy. I hope we meet again.
For many years I shared coffee in the morning and beer in the afternoon with RL. He once let me ride one of his new scooters and I quickly crashed it but he cared more that I was ok. I was glad his son Travis and granddaughter Sophia got to come visit us with him. RL was something more than usual! Unique and I’m so glad to have known him.
