Kathy Lewis from Nevada, wrote on Mar. 21, 2024

Baby brother Rodgie was the youngest of the Baker clan. He was easy going by mom's description; Sonny and I thought he had a wild imagination always full of stories. Myself, Sonny (Allen) and Rodger would cuddle up in bed in our youth when we were afraid in the dark when mom worked graveyards as a waitress. I remember the boys and neighbor David would catch frogs and always be up to something outside since we had a creek run across the front of the land. Or maybe throw my favorite funny clown on the roof, kind of boy stuff. One day Mom got us a chihuahua puppy Rodger named Pumpkin, we taught her to talk (she could say I love you) and she slept with Rodger most the time. Awe then we used to dress up like Batman Robin and Cat Woman during that show and jump about the house. Once Sonny and Rodger tried to make a fire on the hay stack; Dad Allen Baker was glad they failed that attempt. Another time dad got 300 pigs but when 1 attacked Rodger during feeding they all had to go. Then dad bought 2000 chickens but we were allergic and got tired of butchering's so to the auction they went. We loved hanging at the auction, Rodger would imitate an auctioneer. Then we moved to Southern Calif with Grandma and Grandpa Harold Cline and enjoyed camping and fishing with them. Then we lived on Leroy and Mom Carol married Shelby King. That year Santa bought all of us motorcycles. We had paper routes for a time. Rodger had many friends, 1 was David Windsor another Willy Glenn. 1 boy had a crush on me so Rodger and Sonny hid that boy in my closet they were always up to antics with their big sis! Later we had a family race car called Red Racer we built and would take that to Pearsonville Raceway. Some weekends dad and mom (Shelby and Carol King) took us camping and fishing by 4 wheel drive the hard way to death valley with his friends. That is where Rodger got his love for off roading. I hope these memories brings others insight of Rodger and his life as we grew up. I know he is busy in Heaven's Paradise, likely building racetracks and mansions for the ones he loved. I'm banking he will perfect the BBQ and happy to welcome other when our time on Earth ends. I know Grandparents Harold and Virgina Cline, Grandma June Britt (King), Aunt Norma Cline Clemenson and Great grandma Ollie Chase Lawson who all went before Rodger had to go; I know he dances and lives with them in heaven. Thanks for hearing me everyone. With deepest sympathy and Love Big Sis Kathleen L Lewis
