I'll always remember Robin's playfullness with my granddaughter Paisley. She couldn't get enough attention from Robin; his loving patience and hugs kept her coming back for more! ♡♡♡

I've known Robin 25+ years through weekly indoor volleyball. The last decade, we played every summer on grass. He's always been the same guy since day one: kind, genuine, mellow, never ages, and wonderful sportsmanship – especially towards lesser players like me. He's always on time, never sits out a game, plays til the end and helps take down the net – a true loyal friend. This past Labor Day I wimped out because it was 100 degrees (which I now regret). I last saw him appropriately  on Memorial Day. This sad news probably won't hit me until next summer when I show up at the park and realize Robin's no longer there.

I knew Robin through scouts and at school. In school from Portola and then on to El Cerrito High. I considered Robin a friend back in school. We lost touch after high school but I would see his father in el Cerrito 4th of July celebration and hear about how Robin was doing.  I was happy to reconnect with Robin over dinner with Chad in 2018.  So sad to hear of his passing. I send Dwight and Gloria and his family my condolences! Hugs for you all!

I met Robin in history class in the seventh grade when we ended up in the same group for a project.  I had no idea I was meeting my lifelong best friend.  We became closer as the years progressed.  In high school, we hung out during lunchtime and walked home together after volleyball practices.  As we left Grad Night at around seven in the morning, I wondered about our future since he was going to UC Santa Barbara and I was remaining in the area for college.  If he decided to stay in Southern California after graduating from university, our friendship might have faded.  Fortunately he returned to El Cerrito and we reunited.  Even though I moved to Hayward, he still came to visit almost every Friday evening.  My son always looked forward to seeing Uncle Robin.  Robin must have been tired at the end of the work week so I appreciated that he drove almost thirty miles in traffic to spend time with us.  There are so many things that evoke memories of him so he will often be in my thoughts.  Thinking about him now makes me cry but I know it will eventually make me smile.
Someone who was as genuinely nice as Robin should have had a much longer life, especially after coping with a stroke when still a child.  But life isn't fair, so "shoulds" don't count.  I am glad to have known him, and will miss him at the family gatherings from now on.

Dear Gloria and Dwight, I was so sorry to hear about your son’s passing. Glad that your family was able to all be together at the end. I hope you’ll be able to support one another through this difficult time. Love, Barbara and Dave Rockhold
