Roberto's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roberto “Bobby” Escobosa, who left us far too soon on May 1, 2025, at the age of 49, in Layton, Utah, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in San Ignacio, Sinaloa, on September 2, 1976, Bobby was known for his hardworking spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family. From a young age, he showed dedication and drive—starting work at just 14, learning embroidery during his summer breaks alongside his uncle Chabelo Jose Flores and his wife Maria Vega. His strong work ethic followed him throughout life, as he built a career that included time at Deluxe Paper Printing, AMSCO Windows, and most recently at Daily’s Premium Meats.

Bobby was raised with love and guidance by Guillermo Martos, whom he proudly called his father. He was also the son of Jesus Antonio Escobosa Peraza and Alexandra Martos. He carried the memory of both his fathers—Guillermo and Jesus Antonio, both now deceased—with great respect and gratitude.

More than his work, Bobby will be remembered for the life he lived outside of it. He loved being outdoors—grilling for loved ones, playing soccer, fishing, running, and camping whenever he could. He was always happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Bobby’s passion for life extended to the lives of his children and their activities; he was a constant presence on the sidelines, often volunteering to coach and support kids' sports, embodying his belief that time together was what mattered most.

Bobby is survived by his loving mother Alexandra Martos; his brother Guillermo Martos; his children—Valerie Escobosa Goodspeed (Joey), Robert Escobosa (Jada), Adam Escobosa, and Emma Escobosa; and his cherished granddaughter, Lucia Goodspeed. His family was his pride and joy, and he gave them all of himself, every day. These kids would not be here today if Bobby and Hilda Rodriguez did not meet one night in a club. Bobby and Hilda were married for 24 years before they parted ways, but always kept their friendship.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on May 10th from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Caledonia in Layton, Utah. All who knew and loved Bobby are welcome to join in remembering and celebrating the vibrant life he lived.

In his late days he told his kids, "Life's too short to sweat the small stuff." Bobby will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
