Bobbie let me host a music and magic event at her historical home in Echo Park. It was a fun time, but what I remember most was sharing some magic with her, and her completely calling me out!! Classic Bobbie! Always direct. Never pulling punches!

Atheists, Humanists, and Freethinkers all over the world have lost a wonderful friend, a tireless fighter in the cause of Reason, and an inspiration to three generations of seekers of truth and social justice. Bobbie Kirkhart was a gracious host at Heretic House, and a faithful friend not only to me but to American Atheists as well. She well understood the need for Free-Thought organizations to cooperate in the never-ending struggle against the forces of superstition, tyranny, and unreason. A tireless, globe-trotting ambassador for Atheism, thinkers on all inhabited continents will mourn her loss. Who now shall take up the baton she dropped to continue her fight against the forces of unreason that threatened to snuff out the lamp of reason? The need is urgent, the situation is dire; the empty place in Reason's vanguard must soon be filled.

Bobbie allowed us to use her beautiful home to have singalongs on Sunday afternoons - one of many memories I have of her life-affirming joy, generosity, and love of others. So sorry she's not with us.

When Bobbie was president of AU, she asked me to be guest speaker many times. I also went to Heretic House a number of times when I still had a car, and I donated all my back issues of the AU newsletter to her when I moved to a retirement home in Pasadena.

When I made out my will, she agreed to be one of my Executors.

At every AU meeting, I always chatted with her briefly. She was the ever-present backbone of AU. She will be missed very much.

Sent from Harriet Elliot, a friend of Bobbie's, "Bobbie was the only mainstream person I can admire. She had it in her blood to be anti-racist, as a rock was thrown through their window because the mother preached civil rights. She really meant it when she said anti-racist things. Bobbie didn't become conservative with age. I personally will be at a big loss without her. Sincerely Harriet"
Every time I had a chance to speak with Bobby in the past 5 years was a joy.  She inspired me every time.  What a legacy she leaves behind!
I only met Bobbie a few times at Camp Quest Leaders Summits over the years, but her warmth, humor, kindness, and intelligence left a lasting impression. In terms of the number of lives positively impacted, Bobbie leaves a legacy few other can match, and she will be missed in many circles.
