Henry  Robert "Trooper" York, age 71, of Chicago, IL passed away on August 30, 2024. Preceding him in death was his dad Henry York mother Elnora Bolton 

Robert grew up in Chicago,IL, where he attended Lindbloom  and was a captain of the football team. After high school Robert obtained a Bachelor degree in Communication from The University of Illinois Champagne Urbana. While attending college he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and remained active until his death. He enjoyed skating and playing football when he was younger and eventually discovered his passion for collecting records and later becoming a Record Promoter with A&M Records where he worked with artists like LTD, The Brothers Johnson and Kenny G. He loved to watch the Chicago Bears  and nature  shows.

In 1976, Robert married Wanda Williams of Chicago IL, where 2 children conceived……..

He never knew a stranger or enemy and always focused on creating a connection with anyone he came into contact with. He was just one of those types of people.
As a member of Kappa Alpha Psi  he  would participate in the alumni chapter picnic on the grill.  Robert was able to share his talent and musical prowess with the world by working at Jimmy Records and a local jazz station at night. Robert had a passion for music . 

Robert is survived by his wife Tawanda York  of Chicago IL , cousin Larry Bolton of Montgomery,Al ,  sons Robert  Henry York (Latonia Greenleaf) Destin of Chicago,IL. Daughter Schanae Elnora Cunningham (Derrick Cunningham) of Suffolk, VA.  5 grandchildren Carter& Amber York of Chicago IL. Seliah, Aubree and Derrick (DJ) Cunningham  of Suffolk, VA.
