Robert's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Robert "Rob" Bowman on August 18, 2023. Born on February 17, 1962, Robert lived an honorable and dedicated life filled with achievements and love.
Robert, made his primary name known as Rob to family, and Bob to friends. A fearless man of faith, Robert was known for his funny and teasing personality. His teachings of patience, kindness, virtue, faithfulness, and loyalty will always remain as a beacon guiding his loved ones.
Robert was not only an extraordinary individual but also accomplished great feats in his professions. He proudly served as a United States Marine after his graduation from Pacifica High School in 1980. His dedication led him to another opportunity to serve his nation, this time with the United States Air Force Reserve in 1993. In 1999 he started working with the VA Police Department in Lexington,KY. He retired in 2018 from there. He continued pursuing his passion and love of helicopters by serving as a federal contractor working on helicopters.
Robert married the love of his life, Deborah Bowman, in 1989, together they were blessed with three wonderful children. He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah, and his grateful children Carrie Bowman, Robert Bowman, and James Bowman.
Robert was grandparent to seven beautiful grandchildren whom he loved dearly. His family was everything to him, and his proudest achievement was being a father to his three children.
Robert was a keen follower of St. Johns Lutheran Church, and his contributions to service was participating in organizations such as Blue Knights, Marine Corps League, Sons of Norway, Hayward VFW, and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Robert had a zest for life that encompassed his fondness for TV Shows like Vikings, Peaky Blinders, Star Trek, Jack Reacher, and Jack Ryan. He expressed his love for his Norwegian Heritage through drinking Guinness and cheering “Skol” for the Minnesota Vikings. A fan of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, motorcycle rides, boating, and camping. His favorite vacation spots were Hawaii, Minnesota, and anywhere with a cabins in the mountains. He cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren.
The legacy of Robert exists in his acts of kindness, his dedication, reliability, and faithfulness. These virtues will continue to inspire his family and friends.
A viewing will be held for Robert on August 25, 2023, at 5:00PM- 8:00PM at the Rolan G Taylor Funeral Home in Winchester, KY, where friends and family can join to pay their respects.
We bid farewell to a remarkable man, a loving husband, a nurturing father, and a serving member of the military. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
