Bob's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Robert "Bob" Wallington, who was born on December 4, 1956, in Grand Rapids, MI and departed this life on May 10, 2025 in Indianapolis, IN. Known fondly to many as Bob, he enriched the world with his cheerful spirit, infectious humor, and beaming smile.

He is survived by his loving daughters Tricia (Kevin) Haase, Katie (Damon) Warren, Nicki Kindt and Luci Shaffer who remained a steadfast pillar of support and love throughout his life. In addition to his daughters Bob was predeceased by a number of dear family members. His wife, Penny Wallington; his son, Robbie Wallington; his daughter, Mary Ann Wallington; his granddaughter, Abigail Warren; his mother, Luci Wallington; his father, Robert Wallington; and his brother-in-law, Mike Schmidt, all passed before him and we trust they welcomed him warmly into their arms in the next life.

Bob was a man of simple pleasures and it was often in the mundane where he found his greatest joy. He had a notable love for noodles, AKs 7 Layer Salad and fish, a cold Budlight, or an iced tea on a hot day. He often found relaxation in the sounds of Meatloaf's "Bat out of Hell" and enjoyed his leisure time watching WWE, Forensic Files, or anything else as long as it involved cooking. Bob also had a love for the game of poker and could often be found enjoying it with friends.

Bob was a dedicated family man and always cherished quality time spent with loved ones. Some of his most enjoyable moments were spent surrounded by his family and friends, whether hanging out, having a cook out, or simply sharing stories. He was a beacon of positivity, never failing to lighten the atmosphere with his happy disposition, funny anecdotes, and constant smile.

Bob left behind a legacy of kindness and mutual respect, the crux of his life's principle being to "treat others as you wish to be treated". His greatest accomplishment, he believed, was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will carry his wisdom, his lessons, and the memory of his love with them always.

Surviving of grandchildren are, Connor and Ryder Haase, Anthony, Tiffany, Brandon, Damon Jr and Dylan Warren, Benjamin and Joey Wallington, Ilana (Levi) Hatcher, Chris Lafey, Shai Holloway, Emmett Kindt and Carley Wallington and many others that called him Papa as well. Great grandchildren, Alba and Ira Hatcher, Isabelle Gonzalez-Shaffer and 1 on the way.

Bob's life was defined by joy, love, and the pursuit of simple pleasures. His memory serves as a reminder to us all to live fully, laugh often, and love deeply. He will be deeply missed.

Bob also shared enduring bonds with his sisters: Sharon Schmidt, Carol (Bill) Reynolds, Sue Reimer and Theresa Shaffer. Also with family friends that were more than friends they were his brothers and sisters and that is exactly what he referred to each of them as. Chip and Kim Herring, Danny DeRoos, Joe and Shelly Erdman, Jeff Erdman and Dave Lovell. There connection remaind strong throughout the years and was a source of comfort  and joy in his life.

Family and friends can come celebrate Bob ( Papa) on Saturday May 24th starting at 11am. 2640 15 Mile Rd Sparta MI. Will have a meal around 4pm, come and celebrate the good life he had.
