Robert's obituary

Robert Eugene VARNER, 70, of Mill Creek, also known by his family as either Dick or Bob, died unexpectedly April 22, 2004, at 7:30 am at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

Born Oct. 17, 1933, in Altoona, Pa, he was the son of Mary Elizabeth (Pagenta) Varner of Mount Union, and the late William Taft Varner. He was married to the former Carolyn June Haney on July 12, 1965, in Huntingdon. Mrs. Varner survives at their home. Also, surviving are one daughter, Christy Ann Varner at home and the following brothers and sisters, Stewart Varner, Mulberry,
Fla.; John Varner, Connelly's Springs, N.C., Rosie Parks, Burnham, Shirley Varner, Rochester, N.Y., and Jeanette Varner Bennion, Mount Union.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce Earl Varner on July 15, 2001, and an infant sister, Annamary Varner in 1937.

Mr. Varner retired in 1982 as manager of Minute Man Service Station in Rochester, N.Y., and prior to that, he worked for Fashion Park Clothing Manufacturing, also in Rochester. Mr. Varner enjoyed helping others and was an avid New York Yankees and professional wrestling fan.

Funeral services will be held April 26, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union with the Rev. Raymond Crownover officiating. Interment will be in the Newton Hamilton MemorialCemetery.
