In Loving Memory of Robert Cole Sutton “Cole”

December 23, 1997 - December 1, 2023

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Robert Cole Sutton, a beloved son, brother, and friend. Cole left us tragically to soon riding his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle at the hands of a drunk driver on December 1, 2023, at the age of 25.

Born on December 23, 1997, to Elisha Shibuya and Robert Sutton, Cole grew up alongside his cherished siblings, Kai and Kalia Shibuya. His life was also deeply influenced by his former stepfather, Masa Shibuya, who played a significant role in his upbringing.

Cole’s zest for life was unmatched. He approached every day with a spirit of adventure and a relentless drive to make the most of each moment. His infectious energy and unwavering determination inspired everyone around him. 

A proud veteran, Cole served his country with honor and dedication in the United States Marine Corps, especially his time spent flying as a crew chief on V-22 Ospreys, reflected his commitment to excellence and his love for his country.

His work as a V-22 Osprey mechanic at PKL Services Inc. and as a bouncer at Water Bar in Pacific Beach showed his remarkable work ethic and drive to excellence.  

Cole’s light shone brightly in the lives of all who knew him. His loss leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to guide us. We will forever cherish the memories we shared and the laughter we enjoyed.

He is survived by his loving mother, Elisha Shibuya; his father, Robert Sutton; his siblings, Kai and Kalia Shibuya; and a community of friends and relatives who adored him.

Cole, you were the light in our lives, and your legacy will continue to shine. Rest in peace, brave soul.
