Robert's obituary
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hazel Strickland; his sisters, Harriet Deuth and Lois Christians.
Bob is survived by his children, Michele (Keith) Heckenliable, Errin (Kory) Lawrence, Shaun (Tanya) Strickland, Candy (Jeff) Winther, Kate (Florian) Moret, Todd (Gina Xiong) Strickland; his grandchildren, Anthony, Hollie, Karlie, Taylor, Emilie, Josephine, Rose; his sister, Juel Clark; his brother, Dave Strickland; nieces and nephews.
Bob was born on February 17, 1950, in Waterloo, IA, and was the youngest of five children. He grew up on the Rotary Reserve at the time his parents were the caretakers. He participated in the 4-H Club and raised prize-winning sheep among many other animals. He graduated from Cedar Falls Highschool in 1968 and joined the United States Army in 1969 until retirement in 1997. Bob is a Vietnam Veteran who also served in the homeland during Desert Storm. Bob is a decorated officer, awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement during the Vietnam War along with a myriad of medals, ribbons, and accolades during his service. Bob was an avid fisherman, rock collector, woodworker, and mechanic. There is not a day you couldn’t find him tinkering with something.
A memorial service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, 1530 Oakdale Ave, West St. Paul, MN 55118, hosted by Nueva Esperanza on Saturday, February 19th. Visitation with family starts at 1:00 PM with service following at 2:00 PM. Bob will be interned at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in late August 2022.
