Robert's obituary
Robert Arthur Spillman, born May 12, 1961, in Tooele, Utah, passed away at his home on January 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Robert will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and humor (though perhaps not quite as he believed himself to be). He never met a stranger. His warmth and generosity made people feel welcome, whether they had known him for years or had just met him. He took a genuine interest in everyone he encountered and had a remarkable ability to remember details about their lives. You couldn’t go anywhere with Robert without running into someone he knew, and once he stopped to talk, you might as well get comfortable. A quick errand with Robert was never quick.
Robert loved bringing people together. He was happiest hosting family and friends for celebrations, holidays, or any excuse he could come up with. Whether it was a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving or grilling hot dogs for every trick-or-treater passing by, Robert loved to cook and feed people. He travelled all over the world, but his favorite place was wherever people were eating, talking, laughing, and enjoying one another’s company. He found real joy in creating spaces where people felt welcome and connected.
Above all, Robert loved his family and took immense pride in being the “favorite” uncle, a devoted father, and a grandfather. His family meant everything to him.
Robert is survived by his sons John; Collin and his wife, Katie; and Ty and his wife, Hailey; and by his two grandchildren, Krewe and Lily. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Ruth Spillman, and by his siblings Judy and Mike.
A memorial service honoring Robert’s life will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at 180 300 S, Wendover, Utah, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Robert was cremated, and his remains will be scattered privately by his family at a later date.
To honor Robert’s memory, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network through their PurpleStride charity walk teams:
