Robert's obituary

Robert James Slaven, born Oct 27th 1936, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on January 17th 2022. Robert was born and raised in Zamora, CA. He loved to talk about his adventurous yet productive childhood. He grew up learning the value of hard work and fun times. Robert raised animals and crops as a member of the local 4-H club and during his years in (FFA) Future Farmers of America. Robert loved cars, trucks, and tractors: rebuilding and racing a 1932 Ford, restoring several trucks, and completely restoring the family’s 1938 Allis Chalmers B Tractor. He loved everything about farming so in 1972 he bought the family farm in Zamora, CA. where he raised his family. Bob spent his most recent years traveling around the USA, taking photographs, making friends, helping out with Elk’s Club events, and making art out of iron. He loved everyone and loved to make people happy with his sly wit and his infectious smile.

Robert, son of John Leo and Phyllis Slaven, grandson of James and Catherine Slaven nee Sullivan, and Charles and Ella Wolgamott nee Rose, was pre-deceased by his first wife Ethel M Slaven nee Self, his brother Tom Slaven and his nephew Jeffery Wilson. He is survived by his wife Ramona Slaven; his six daughters: Bernadene Slaven, Kathleen Salinas, Susan Slaven, Carol Knutson, Deborah Slaven, and Janet Slaven; his sister Joanne Slaven Wilson; his grandchildren: Tamela Maciel, Cassidy Maciel, Sativa Maciel, Marlin Carl, Michael Carl, Kelsey Knutson, Logan Knutson, Riley Knutson, Danielle Hestand, Garrett Hestand, Katlyn Miranda, and Marcos Miranda; his great grandson Connor Latimer; nieces Julianne McDaniel, Katherine Slaven, and Maryanne Smith; step children Greg Melin, Brad Melin, Diane Blanchard, their children and grandchildren, plus many additional loving relatives and friends.
