The Fernald Family expresses their deepest sympathy in the loss of Bob Slate.  Bob has been a fiend of ours since the 1970s, when Tom and Bob taught history together at Tuckahoe Middle School.  They became close friends and shared many golf games and other fun times together.  We always enjoyed Bob's visits to our home.  When our children, Sarah and Brad, attended  Byrd Middle School, Bob always took special care of them.  He was very attentive and caring about their educational success.  Bob was a dear friend to all of our family.  Our love, hugs, and prayers are with you, his family.  Barbara, Bob loved you so much, and he was so happy with you and your boys.  The service for Bob today was so well done.  It was truly a time of worship and celebration of Bob's life.  Family remembrances shared were comforting and beautifully expressed..  The Scripture message was so meaningful.  The music added such a lovely part to the service.  Tom, Sarah, and I were honored to be there to celebrate the life of a great man.  Although our son, Brad could not be there physically, he was there in spirit, honoring Bob and his positive influence.  We were not able to stay for the reception, but please know our love, hugs, and prayers are always with you, Bob's family.  Bob made the world a better place.  May God bring comfort, grace, peace, and love to you all.  We love you.  Judy, Tom, Sarah, and Brad Fernald
Bob Slate was a friend of my parents. He always made me laugh. I loved seeing him at church and when he was at social outings with my family. I send love to Barbara and his sons and grandchildren.

Bob was a caring and friendly man. His dedication and devotion to Barb, Geoff and Jon was an example for us all. Rest in peace dear friend.
