Robert's obituary
Robert “Bob” Arthur Skodzinsky, 81, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025. Born on February 24, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, Bob was the beloved third son of Frank and Helen Skodzinsky.
A lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity, Bob was known for knowing a bit about everything. He began his career as a machining apprentice at Warner & Swasey while simultaneously earning his bachelor’s degree in the evenings at Cleveland State University. His dedication and talent led him to rise through the ranks, eventually serving as Vice President at Warner & Swasey and later as President of both Carthage Machine Tool and Monarch Machine Tool companies.
Bob’s greatest professional joy came later in his career as Manager of the Haas Technical Education Community (HTEC). In this role, he championed manufacturing technical education, bringing opportunities to high schools, colleges, and even correctional facilities. His work left a lasting impact on countless students and educators, ensuring that the next generation would be equipped with the skills to thrive in modern manufacturing.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was a man of adventure. In his lifelong quest for the perfect margarita, he traveled the world with his soulmate of 33 years, Karen. Together, they shared countless journeys, memories, and laughter.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen; his brothers, Frank and Victor; and his beloved wife, Karen. He is survived by his children Thomas, Matthew, Mark (Melissa), and Robyn (Colin); and grandchildren Zach, Naomi, Lydia, Madison, Mackenzie, and Marlee.
Bob’s legacy is one of curiosity, dedication, and humor, and his spirit will live on in the lives of those he touched.
