Bob's obituary
Robert (Bob) Delano Sanner, 77 of Leander, Texas and previously of Killeen, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 9, 2021 after an eleven year battle with dementia.
Bob was born on May 8th, 1944 in Garrett, Pennsylvania to Frank and Salome Boches Sanner. He was the oldest of 16 children. In 1961, at the age of 17, Bob joined the US Army and in 1963 was stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany where he met and married his bride of 57 years on October 26, 1964. Bob and Vi have three children, four grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
Bob served honorably in the US Army for 27 years and served in Vietnam from 1970-1971. After retiring from the military in 1988 at Ft Hood, Bob worked for the Temple Daily Telegram, for General Dynamics as a contractor for the Army where he served in Desert Storm and for Civil Service.
Bob loved his family and his pets, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a life-long Pittsburg Steelers fan. He loved the country he served and was a true patriot.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Waltraud (Vi) Fretzert Sanner, his son Robert and wife Trish Sanner, his daughter Tammy Rigdon and husband Steve Richards, his grandchildren, Matthew and wife Taylor Sanner, Lindsey and husband Colby Gunter, Morgan and wife Kendall Sanner and Devan Rigdon. He is also survived by two great granddaughters, Eliza and Greigh.
Bob is predeceased by his son Thomas Sanner, his parents, and 4 brothers.
Services will be graveside at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen Texas on Wednesday October 20th at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the Sanner home in Leander, Texas.
