Robert's obituary
Robert Charles "Charlie" Rogers, Sr., age 69, bid his final adieu to the world on April 27, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland. Born on September 15, 1955, in Havre De Grace, Maryland, Charlie lived a life marked by dedication to his work and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that brought him happiness.
Charlie built a respected career over three decades as a GAF Master Elite Roofer, earning recognition for his skill and commitment to quality craftsmanship. In the later years of his professional life, he transitioned to serve as a technician for the Maryland Aviation Administration, continuing to apply his strong work ethic and technical expertise until retirement.
Charlie was known among those who knew him as resolute and hardworking—qualities that defined both his personal and professional life. Whether on rooftops or runways, he approached every task with determination and pride.
Outside of work, Charlie found joy as an avid fan of NHRA and NASCAR racing and rarely missed an opportunity to travel to his special place, Indiana. He loved spending time there with extended family and enjoyed going to Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Lucas Oil Raceway Park cheering on his favorite drivers at the track, with a cold beer in his hand. His love for sports extended to his hometown teams—the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles—whom he supported with unwavering loyalty. Fishing offered moments of peace and reflection, while evenings were often spent watching episodes of COPS or WWE wrestling matches.
Charlie was preceded in death by the love of his life and beloved wife Alverta; parents Robert and Edna; sisters Francis and Rosemary; and his brothers Anthony and Paul.
He is survived by his cherished children Amelia, Roberta, Robert Jr., Rosemary, Richard, and Jonathan. He also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and sisters Linda Schuler and Paula Franz.
Not only will his legacy live on via his family, prior to his passing he gave the world one last gift, his vessel. Charlie donated his body to Anatomy Gifts Registry. He thought it could provide a real and lasting way to support medical research that will contribute to a greater understanding, prevention, and cure of medical conditions that impacted not only him, but the lives of others for decades to come.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., September 13, 2025, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland, 21225.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for Memorial Contributions in Robert’s name made to:
