Bob's obituary

Robert “Bob” Keith Ripperdan went home to be with Jesus on February 23, 2021 at the age of 90. Bob was born to Jesse and Juanita Ripperdan on May 14, 1930 in Corydon, Indiana, the second of four children. He grew up in Indiana enjoying baseball and basketball and playing the trumpet. After graduating from high school, Bob joined the Army and spent four years as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He attained the rank of Sergeant and played the trumpet in the division band. After the Army, he spent several years working in a steel mill in Gary, Indiana, then moved to Long Beach, California in 1957. Soon thereafter, he was fortunate to find and marry his sweetheart, Elaine Takala to whom he was married for 57 years until her death in 2016. In addition to being a loving and devoted husband, Bob adored his two children, his son Bob of Tucson, Arizona, and his daughter Mindy of Covina, California. Bob and Elaine lived in Garden Grove and Seal Beach, California from 1962 to 2015 before relocating to Tucson, Arizona for health reasons. He spent the majority of his career working for Gulf Oil until he retired in 1995. Some of his favorite things to do were fishing, reading, taking walks with Elaine, and playing the trumpet in the Long Beach First Church of the Nazarene praise band. He was a faithful Christian who loved the Word of God and the church. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and wife, as well as his sister Wanda Necco and brother Lowell, and is survived by his sister Lynne Mulford, his children Bob (Lynn) Ripperdan and Mindy (Victor) Lo, six grandchildren (Matthew Ripperdan, Kristina Ripperdan Amos, Ryan Ripperdan Lo, Brandon Ripperdan, Emily Ripperdan Lo and Justin Ripperdan) and two great grandchildren (Emma Ripperdan and Ryder Amos). The family would like to thank Crossroads Adult Care Home of Tucson and their staff for the loving care Dad received.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever. Psalm 23:6
