Robert Earl Preston was born on August 28th, 1967, in Atlantic City, NJ to the late Leon and Elizabeth Preston. He was the youngest of four children and the “baby” brother to Martha, Renee, and Leon. He and his brother Leon were especially close and were partners in crime. He was his best friend and confidant. As a child, Robert loved sports and riding his dirt bike. He was always a burst of energy and full of joy and laughter. He attended Egg Harbor Township public schools and graduated from Egg Harbor Township High School in 1985. He was a skilled barber and carpenter, and worked in many other capacities over the years. Robert loved good food and fellowship with family! He also loved exotic cars and dogs, but his favorite pastime was playing cards, as he was a great partner at any game, be it Spades, Bid Whisk, or Poker.

Robert bore two beautiful girls, Mary Elizabeth born December 25, 1988 and Iesha Ann, born June 1, 1994. He loved his daughters dearly and was the best father he could be. He had two stepchildren, Jammal and LaSheena from a previous marriage whom he also cherished. In May 2010, Robert met Paula at a barbeque and it was love at first sight! They married in January 2011 and he moved to the Washington DC, area to start his new life. Through this union he gained another stepson, Sean William and loved sharing jokes and laughing together with him. Paula was the one person who kept him grounded and grew his faith; she meant the world to him, and he loved her dearly.

Robert was a simple and humble man, who treasured all of life’s joys. He always had something to smile about and was truly thankful for all the life and love that Allah had blessed him with. On October 27, 2021, Robert departed this life to rest with his heavenly father in the next. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Paula Preston; sister, Martha Preston; children, Mary Preston-Chappell and Iesha Preston; stepchildren Jammal and LaSheena Gant, and Sean LaGrand; his grandchildren, Amani Ellis, Major Chappell, King Justin Stevenson, and Keon Stevenson; and a host family and friends. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Leon and Elizabeth Preston,  sister, Renee Preston-Fitzgerald, and brother, Leon Preston II.

We will forever cherish our time spent with Robert and will always hold his memory in our hearts!
