Bob's obituary
In Loving Memory 1932-2022
Salt Lake City, UT—
Robert Stevens Pearce died unexpectedly from a cardiac arrest on May 11, 2022, at the age of 89.
Bob was born to Allen and Fern Pearce on December 13, 1932, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He grew up there and fell in love with his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Mae Lind, when they were only fifteen. They married on August 9, 1953 and from then on were always by each other's side. They had, and will always have, never-ending love.
Bob graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in pharmacy in 1955, and initially worked alongside his father at the family owned Pearce's Friendly Drug store. He was hired by Merck, Sharp & Dohme as a drug representative in 1960 and moved the family to Casper, Wyoming, before being transferred to Utah in 1964. After 30 years, he retired from Merck and was offered a job at the University of Utah to coordinate the continuing education program in the College of Pharmacy. He was a Clinical Assistant Professor there until 1996.
He lived a purposeful life of outdoor adventure, charity, and love. Bob enjoyed hiking, backpacking, backcountry skiing, and fishing. His legacy will live on at his beloved "Rusty Gold II" cabin he built in Wyoming. He regularly volunteered for his church, Stephen Ministry, and Crossroads Urban Center and contributed to many environmental and humanitarian causes.
Bob is survived by the love of his life, Dorothy; his three children: Dave (Laurie), Steve (Larene), and Kathy Lambert (John); six grandchildren: Ann Lambert (Zach), Cody Pearce (Stacie), Nicole Cathey (Ryan), Jennifer Pearce-Morris (Dave), Serena Robertson (Jim), Michael Morris-Pearce (Meenakshi); seven great grandchildren: Norea Gildersleeve, Sophia & Jaxson Pearce, Liam & Everett Cathey, Chloe & Pearl Robertson; one niece: Marty Lordier
