Bob's obituary

Robert Pastorino died peacefully at his home on November 2nd, 2020. He was 90 years old.

Bob was a man who loved the finer things in life. The dapper Italian-American gentleman was known to slick his hair with olive oil and adorn himself in the finest clothes. He loved to eat delicious food, drink tasty beverages, and laugh with friends.

A newspaper article once described him as having the “smile of a greek god, the grooming of a duke, and the voice of a network radio announcer.”

Bob was an early icon in the community of Walnut Creek. His restaurant, Pastorino’s Brittany Inn, opened its doors in Downtown Walnut Creek in 1953. He awed people with a shiny new contraption few had ever seen before: a gigantic custom-made espresso machine. For over 30 years the Inn was a favorite for its seafood, Irish Coffee, elaborate New Year’s Eve celebrations, and party buses that brought people to Oakland Raider games.

Bob was an avid duck hunter, fisherman, and motorcycle enthusiast who rode all the way up until the end.

He is survived by his children Cliff, Shelley, and Andrea, and many grand and great-grandchildren.
