Bob's obituary
Robert "Bob" Alan Neuenfeldt, 77, of Somerset, WI passed away peacefully in his home, in the company of his wife and daughter, on July 17, 2025 after a lengthy battle with multiple strokes and heart failure.
Bob was born on July 31, 1947 to the late Charles John and Dorothy (Plank) Neuenfeldt in Neillsville, WI and was preceded in death by his three brothers, John Charles, Bruce Edward, and Meric-Vance Michael Neuenfeldt. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay Hustad Neuenfeldt, His daughter Kristi Dawn Neuenfeldt, his granddaughter Maria Augus Heinen, Nephews William, Michael, Ruark, and Tyrell Neuenfeldt as well as multiple great nieces and nephews.
After serving in the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam war, he came home to attend college at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, where he met and married his wife, Sharon. He obtained bachelor's degrees in business and math education with minors in math and art. He later received his Masters in Math Education at UW-River Falls. During his college years, in addition to his math studies, Bob worked extensively in the UWRF theater department in acting roles, prop and set design, sound, and lighting. He spent his college summers building sets for professional performances with UWRF Summer Stock, and worked as lighting and sound technician with his wife, Sharon, for musicians such as John Denver, Yoko Ono, and Shawn Phillips.
Bob went on to teach advanced and remedial math at Oakland Junior High and Stillwater Area High School for 29 years. In addition to his dedicated teaching, he coached junior high football and directed theater productions. He was heavily involved in his community where his daughter went to school. He spent time as President of the local scholarship board and went above and beyond to raise funds for scholarships, including directing and acting as Snoopy in a community production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown alongside many educators in Somerset Schools, and helping organize Scholarship Fund community talent shows. For all of these efforts, the town of Somerset elected to honor him and Sharon by making them Grand Marshall for their local town festival. He and Sharon spent many hours volunteering as set designer and accompanist for many school plays and musicals. He also spent many years serving his community with his local American Legion Post by working as bookkeeper, serving as Commander for a period of time, and by participating in military honors for funerals and Memorial Day. He never missed a game, performance, or concert for his daughter, Kristi, whom he supported with his whole heart in every activity and endeavor. He retired from Stillwater Schools in time to be a doting grandpa to Maria, which brought him endless joy.
From family, to friends, to perfect strangers, Bob was always happy to give, help and support. He touched countless lives and will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place on Sunday September 7th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lakeside Park Beach House located at 10002 Lake Circle Bayport, MN 55003.
